Xenophobia
I came to your country
Not to intrude your space,or keep you out of job
But to pull together,to enjoy your spirit of ubuntu
And work towards the African dream
As envisioned by Mandela
Now you treat me with more hate
Than you had against the apartheid regime
We are all blacks brotherWhy the black-racism?
witwatersrand may be sweet, but blood is thicker
The pan-african spirit may be aged, but we are one people
For what its worth,With a common destiny!
We were there for you in your darkest nights
We were there for you in your darkest times
Lend a helping hand in building,Umkhonto we sizwe
Lend a helping hand in lobbying for trade embargoes against the apartheid regime
Lend a hand in training your troops for armed resistance against the apartheid regime
Now I wonder where were you
When my countrymen were set ablaze, for owning businesses in your country
When our businesses were being looted,
When my countrymen were battered by your police for speaking out
I know,this is not a compact majority's view,
But just a few cells of intolerance
Which you are capable of stemming out
But doing nothing brother
Is equivalent to aiding and abating crime
So hereby I implore, step up your game
Towards global citizenship
Or remain buried,in cultural-antiquity
Just so you know, everyone is a foreigner somewhere.
